When it comes to planning my website, I want it to not only look visually stunning but also reflect my vision, personality, and goals accurately. A website is more than just a digital space—it’s a powerful tool to showcase creativity, share information, and connect with an audience. While it might seem tempting to dive straight into building a site and start experimenting with design elements, there are several crucial steps that need to be completed beforehand. These foundational steps ensure the final result is both visually appealing and highly functional, creating a positive and seamless experience for visitors.

Planning a website involves thoughtful consideration of various aspects that contribute to its overall success. One of the first steps is creating a detailed wireframe, which acts as a blueprint for the site’s structure and layout. The wireframe allows me to organize content, decide where important elements will go, and ensure the site feels intuitive for users to navigate. Beyond that, selecting the right color scheme is critical, as colors influence the tone and emotional appeal of the site. Additionally, choosing appropriate typography can enhance readability and set the mood of the design, ensuring it aligns with the overall aesthetic I want to achieve. Finally, designing a cohesive and user-friendly layout brings everything together, creating a polished and professional look that invites visitors to explore further. Thoughtful planning ensures that every detail is intentional and aligns with my ultimate vision.

Wireframe

Reflecting on my work from last semester, I’ve identified several areas where improvements can be made. Specifically, for the wireframe, I plan to replace the first image with a larger, more impactful one. This change will serve as a stronger visual anchor for the page. Additionally, I want to add more text between the images to create a better content flow and enhance the overall user experience. These adjustments will not only improve the layout but also make the website more engaging and informative.

Mood Board

When reviewing my original mood board, I realized the color scheme I initially chose feels too dull and uninspiring. The blue and pink shades I selected lack the vibrancy I’m aiming for, so I plan to experiment with brighter, more energetic tones. By introducing bolder and more eye-catching colors, I hope to give the website a fresh and dynamic look that better aligns with the message I want to convey.

Website Checklist

The website checklist is still a work in progress, as I’m testing how all the individual elements come together and interact with the app. While I’m satisfied with many of the features I’ve selected so far, I anticipate making adjustments as I continue refining the website. Some features may need to be swapped out for others to ensure everything functions smoothly and aligns with the overall design.

Site Map

The site map is one aspect I’m particularly happy with, so I don’t plan to make any changes to it. It clearly outlines the structure of the website and provides a solid foundation for the rest of the planning process. Having a well-thought-out site map ensures that the navigation will be intuitive and user-friendly.

As I move forward with building my website, I know there will be plenty of opportunities to refine and improve my initial ideas.
